Vermont’s Flood

Most of you have read about the horrific flooding in Vermont this week. My husband and I moved from Maryland in 1980 to buy this sweet hardware store, Harry’s Hardware. We called this home for 15 years and raised our children in the apartment upstairs. Life was busy working 7 days a week but our children were able to walk to school while we worked and we had Sundays after closing for family time. This store has continued to be the center of our village and now hosts a bar and restaurant, The Den, with live music several days a week plus still selling nuts and bolts.

Community members have been working round the clock in clean up efforts and it was especially heartwarming to see so many young people out helping. Folks with tractors took time off from work to assist in cleanup as well.
Harry’s has been hit especially hard with significant structural damage. We have 2 go fund me accounts, one for Harry’s and a general fund for the town.
